Recap of Date Night

Last night, James & Callie watched baby Jake so we could go out on a hot date!  (thank youuuuuu!)  We headed downtown to Germantown Cafe since Liz & Jon gave us a giftcard wayyyy back when we decided to move to Nashville.   It's this cute, little restaurant that overlooks the skyline of downtown.  Its set in the heart of Germantown, which has quaint charming houses & shops.  It had great ambiance & cute gerber daisies on the tables & perfect lighting.  The food was great, but our server was somewhat of a dud.  I think the service is typically amazing at this place, but we just got the one guy who wasn't the friendliest and took 20 minutes to fill up your water glass.  We had a great table though looking out at downtown and I got  Plum Pork Marinated tenderloin medallions finished with a savory plum sauce, over mashed potatoes with green beans. Doesn't that sound delish?!  It was awesome!

We headed out to another place to grab some dessert.  My sweet tooth tells me this is the best part of any date night!  We went to Bricktops, down on West End by Vanderbilt.  SO good.  We got there around 9pm and there was still a 30 min wait for a table so we headed out to the patio & we sat on these awesome couches & ate the most scrumptious dessert.  Picture this... warm chocolate chip cookie in a small skillet, scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top, caramel drizzled over it all.  Ahhhhh.  I could eat the whole thing again right now.  We had a great waiter at this place, too - super friendly & on top of things.  And a random skinny guy who worked there brought out 2 spoons...We said thank you...  He said, 'Yep, that's why they pay me the big bucks" and turned around and walked away.  He got us laughing!  :) Ok, maybe you had to be there, but lets just say the service at this place was totally redeeming for our evening of dining out!

After dessert, we jumped in the Acura (that's right folks, no baby-mobile for the anniversary date night) and opened that sunroof and blared the country music and headed back home on the country roads!  It was SUCH a fun date night with the Hubs!
